Five Master Shots With Sound
Contrast- With the Contrast skit classical music fit well because it was a clip of us studying. The classical music intensifies the focus of which we're studying, drawing attention to the master shot itself- contrast. This was a form of non-diegetic sound, also conveying a sound bridge.
Parallelism- The parallelism shot was played alongside upbeat, happy music because of the mood. Ellie and I were walking happily which fit the music being played.
Symbolism- In the symbolism shot, nature- in particular a tree was the main focus, so by playing natural sounds such as birds chirping fit accordingly. Although this was a form of postsynchronization dubbing, the background music (birds chirping) fit well enough that the audience may not have even realized that it wasn't direct sound.
Simultaneity- In this fight scene the "Rocky" music was appropriate to play, signifying that a fight may occur. This particular music also identified the mood, creating a sound bridge, giving insight that a fight might happen.
Leit Motif- Sound is very important to this master shot because the sound in some cases signifies when something may happen in the scene, in our particular scene whenever the spooky music played Ellie did a jump scare.
