Week 3 Assignment
While watching Cori’s clips I thought that the most prominent shots were the cameo shot, eye level shot, point of view shot, and the low angle shot. I like as to how straightforward Cori was when talking about the cameo shot being considered uninteresting in some situations. I think that she provided a good example of a cameo shot as well being that its just limited to that white wall. The shot overall gave me discomfort because it seemed as if it was an interview or in a more formal setting. Coris eye level shot was at the perfect height matching Ryans eyes so it did seem as if the viewer was another character in the scene. I also liked how she included the importance of these shots opposed to cameo shots. The eye level shot made it seem as if I were in the scene giving me a sense of inclusivity. The point of view shot was interesting to watch because it feels as if you're watching through a lens. I appreciated that she included the information that its used more in video games than anything else as well. The low angle shot made me feel as if it I was being looked down upon, almost giving me a sense of inferiority. The music video was a fantastic example to give for this specific shot also.
While watching Kaelyn’s clips I took interest in the extreme close up shot, high angle shot, tight shot, and the freeze frame shot. I enjoyed the extreme close up of Alaskas (cats) eye because it gave off spooky vibes. Along with the almost mystery the extreme close up gave the viewer an untraditional shot that was was interesting. It made me feel curious as to see what was beyond the cats eye to see the whole frame. The high angle shot was perfect because it included and primarily focused on the cat being recorded along with the background of the bedsheets. The high angle shot gives the viewer a sense of superiority as well. The tight shot was a great example because it filled the entire frame. I did get a feeling of discomfort and all around awkwardness as well with this shot. The freeze frame shot was unique as well, repeating the same motion of jumping up and down on the bed demonstrate the freeze frame shot. This particular shot made me feel excited as the motions jumping up and down were very labor demanding.
